Hi.

Welcome to my blog!  I document my relocation adventure from California to Singapore. Hope you enjoy the blog and have a nice day!

Singapore Dining Diaries: Vol. 1 Funny Tummy

For those of you that know me even moderately well, you know how much I love to eat! From Chinese food to Soul food to Thai and Mexican and Italian.   The thought of my favorite foods almost makes my mouth drool. I digress, so many people were excited about my trip and relocation but most importantly because of all of the wonderful food I would have access to.  So imagine my disappointment when my first meal in Singapore was a complete bust.

Oh Prawn Noodles... I had such high expectations!!!

Oh Prawn Noodles... I had such high expectations!!!

You read correctly.  My Prawn Noodles, didn't agree with me.  I may have taken five bites before I couldn't go on.  Now, admittedly, it was the first thing I ate other than my United Airlines meals and snacks I packed.  (Of course I packed snacks.  It's what you do when you're 200+ pounds and going somewhere new.  A girl has to be prepared for these things, and I will never forget that trail mix saving my life in Ghana.  Plus, I do get hangry.  Did you not pay attention when I said I love food?)  Also, my Red Dragon just arrived and I wasn't really hungry at all, but knew I should eat something.  I figured I love prawns and noodles and how bad could it be?? Bad.  The thing that made it unpalatable for me was the broth.  Not sure, what the spice base was but it wasn't something I could handle.  It wasn't bland which would have almost been better than what it was.

Have no fear! With the encouragement of my amazing relocation guide on Tuesday and Wednesday, I did stick to it and try other things on my trip.

As you can see from the picture, that's not what Carrot Cake I normally order while at Cheesecake Factory.  And for the record, if you haven't had the Craig's Crazy Carrot Cake Cheesecake you are missing out!  I need to add that to the list of things to eat before officially leaving the continent.  Anywho, the carrot cake is actually a radish! It can be prepared wither black or white and they were out of white so I can't comment but it was pretty good!  The kway teow was just a fried noodle.  Also, pretty tasty.  Of course, I ordered the rice.  You can't screw up fried rice!  And no, they didn't.  So, this was a hit! I can add it to the list of things I will be able to eat with ease!

Stay tuned for more!!
