After such a long waiting period and holding pattern, my move to Singapore has finally happened. It's 6:08 in the morning and I should be sleeping but my body is confused. I tried staying up once I landed almost 24 hours ago but I sat on the bed about 6pm and of course my eyes closed. I let sleep consume me while reflecting on the reality that I actually moved to Singapore.
I live in Singapore. (Still marinating on that).
So instead of competing with my body, I'm trying to unpack and it's perfect timing as the first of many thunder and lightning storms are rolling through. Day one was great. Everyone I have met continues to be nice and helpful even in a crisis situation. Today's almost catastrophic moment occurred when I was coming down the lift (escalator) and stepped off only to realize my skirt had become a victim. Luckily, a few people came over to help including my new coworker and friend CL. She unfortunately had to rip the skirt to pry me free but that was much better than the alternative. I kept imagining the lift taking the rest of my skirt with it to satiate it's desires.
But, the day continued with us exploring a little bit more and eating things that were quite tasty! I'll update my dining diary a little bit later in the week so it's not a daily thing. The other fascinating thing that occurred was getting stopped by a family from Japan I later asked where they were from) and wanting to take pictures with me and CL. Initially, I obliged but it made me chuckle remembering how uncommon it is to see a version of me in this part of the world. I'm still processing the experience but as I explore more of Asia I'm sure there will be more curiosity! Almost as much as the curiosity I have to soak up my new environment.
Well, I'm going to try and actually unpack and then get ready for breakfast. Until next time, stay clear of escalators and make each day memorable!
Love & Light!

Here are a few more pictures....
My life on a cart, once I arrived in Singapore. Wrong last name, but definitely here for me. My driver asked if I was Chinese since it is a Chinese last name LOL...
Pictures of my temporary accommodations! Quite lovely! Except the part where I had to haul the luggage up those steps!
